I a big sitter!

That is Evelyn's way of saying 'I'm a big sister!' - and is she ever!  The first time we saw her after Joseph was born she just looked.... bigger!  It is unbelievable how she looks taller and more mature in a matter of seconds compared to her tiny baby brother....

The night I went into labor we called on our good friends, the Pecka's, who welcomed Evelyn into their home at 10 pm for a sleepover with her good friend Sloan.  They took her to school the next morning and then Keith went in the afternoon to pick her up and bring her to the hospital.  She was REALLY excited about the baby in the hospital room - not Joseph - but the 'baby' Grandma Ruth had brought complete with cradle, bottle and all the accessories!  Evelyn thought this was pretty cool and we had fun showing each other our new babies :) She did take a moment to come over and meet Joseph and give Mommy and Daddy hugs - but was soon whisked away to a Plattsmouth for a weekend of lots of attention from Grandma and Grandpa Wassinger.  They had a blast!  Evelyn went to work and shopping with Grandma on Friday and spent Saturday and Sunday baking cookies, getting rewards for going potty, and entertaining her grandparents with stories about home and school.

Everyone asks how Evelyn is handling the new baby - and she has been really great.  My normal response is that she really doesn't seem to notice.  Her age (and personality) really are me-centered right now and she hasn't stopped her normal routine.  Having Christmas so soon after he was born also took the focus off the baby and gave Evelyn lots of things (presents ;) to focus her attention on.
